Ecojag Holds Off Disciples Comeback in 87–83 U18 Thriller

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Ecojag survived a furious second-half comeback from Disciples to claim an 87–83 victory in an exciting U18 Final of the Jr. Metro Cebu Basketball League at Cebu Coliseum.

Ecojag established control early, taking a 24–18 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 47–35 at halftime.

Disciples, however, came roaring back in the third quarter.

Led by a dominant offensive surge, Disciples exploded for 28 points while holding Ecojag to just 14, turning a 12-point halftime deficit into a 62–61 lead heading into the final period.

But Ecojag answered when it mattered most.

The visitors regained their composure in the fourth quarter, scoring 26 points against Disciples' 20 to reclaim the lead and escape with a four-point victory.

Bation leads the way

Janos Bation delivered a game-high 30 points for Ecojag, including four three-pointers and six free throws. He also contributed three assists and two steals.

Scotti Phil Beleña added a strong double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Khlint VJ Rosal chipped in 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Disciples was led by Stanley Toring, who finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Kent Toyco added 14 points and nearly posted a double-double with nine rebounds, while Josh Braulio and Shawn Faciol each scored 11 points. Adrian Suico also contributed 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Ecojag's edge on the boards helped make the difference. The team outrebounded Disciples 38–32 and also held advantages in assists, 16–12, and steals, 10–9.

The game ultimately came down to Ecojag's ability to respond after surrendering the lead in the third quarter. With the game tied at 62–62 entering the fourth, Ecojag produced just enough offense to close out the comeback attempt.
